In October Laundrylove was again alive with our neighbors who come to join us for a meal, groceries, and love. And laundry! We continue to welcome some long time guests, like Victor and Victoria, who had a baby during the summer (Laundrylove helped them find shelter for some days after Victoria and her baby Jessica were
We welcomed back the youth from Messiah Santa Ana, and Ken Kawamura, their leader. We are always grateful for the help from youth, as they learn to practice their innate generosity.
Matt and Monica provided our meal- homemade soup and bread. Yummm. We also received a pan of homemade mac and cheese; that went fast as well. Matt says that he really loves to cook for this community. And we love to receive that gift.
Steve talked to several guests who have just become 'regulars'. One talked about his short career as a professional baseball player, before he was drafted and sent to Vietnam. And speaking of Vietnam, Thanh and his 80 year old brother were there again, and we had a long talk with both of them. What great people! Thanh's brother taught 'pedagogy' in Vietnam, and it was such a pleasure to get to know him.
During October, or actually at the end of Sept, Christian, Shannon and Steve traveled to a new Laundrylove in Venice, to help Thad's in Santa Monica kick off it's new ministry at the laundromat. What a pleasure to have spawned one more LL in the world. We continue to look for other opportunities and encourage others to start Laundryloves; stay tuned for more news on that front.
As always, we are blessed by the opportunity to be good neighbors at Laundrylove.
See you next month!
